The purpose of this project is to help individuals to develop and strengthen a sense of identity and belonging, physical and mental wellbeing, encouraging social competence and networks at local, national and international level.
In order to strengthen the proposal and the purpose of the project, a careful selection of the project partners has been made in order to have a wider and comprehensive approach.
Rowing4fun ASD – Italy – (R4F)
Animates the world of Italian rowing since 2016 and its members ove to travel and experience rowing on sea, rivers and lakes. Rowing4fun ASD is a non-profit sports club which promotes rowing among its members, athletes of all ages for purely recreational and aggregate purposes but also for performance and improvement of the technique. Sports association affiliated with CONI, the Italian Olympic Committee. Founded by two rowers who love sport and nature, it represents a quite unique reality in Italy, both for the quantity of destinations covered by the tours, and for the breadth of the activities offered: advanced courses and introduction to sport, team building initiatives and summer sport camps.
Over time he has acquired skills in boat management, setting up rowing programs both to increase confidence and technique on the boat and to offer long distance tours for expert crew. R4F plays a central role in the promotion of rowing events and regattas, as over time it has created a network of contacts between rowers from all over the world and European federations. In 2019 R4F were contacted by the American Rowing Federation to offer one of their rowing internships / tours at a federation auction in New York to finance the American expedition to the Tokyo Olympics.r
Rowing4fun brings its experience in creating networks of clubs and rowers even outside the consortium members.
Naftikos Omilos Lemesou – Cyprus (LNC)
Naftikos Omilos Lemesou, founded in 1962 as a non-profit organization, is dedicated to promoting sports engagement, especially among children and recreat ional athletes in Limassol and throughout Cyprus. The club boasts a rich sporting history, including notable figures such as Cyprus’s first Olympic medalist, Pavlos Kontidis, in sailing, and Paralympic medalist, Karolina Pelendritou, in swimming .
Our goal is to educate more individuals and be an integral part of the rowing community in Cyprus. The Club also offers various water sports such as rowing, coastal rowing, sailing, swimming kayaking and water polo.
MALMÖ RODDKLUBB – Sweden
The club, active since 1884, has maintained an increasingly inclusive and diversified vitality over the years. Over the last three years, there has been a growth in the sporting community, with a strong passion for rowing. With around 100 active members, the club welcomes a wide range of participants, with a notable presence of older members. Around 30 of them are over 40, confirming the club’s commitment to offering sporting opportunities for all ages.
Beginners’ courses are a key focus of the business, with three annual sessions attracting an average of 12 participants each, ranging from ages 14 to 100. This inclusiveness reflects the club’s commitment to providing access to rowing to people of all age groups and experience levels. Weekly sessions with dedicated coaches regularly attract 10 to 15 people of all ages and abilities, offering a dynamic and stimulating environment for individual and collective improvement. Outside of these sessions, many of the more experienced members come together for personalized, collaborative training, demonstrating a strong community spirit and mutual support.
The club actively participates in national and international competitions, with a significant presence in age categories, including masters and open senior events in Denmark and beyond. Last year, some members represented the club in South Africa, while this year they prepared for the prestigious WRMR in Germany, demonstrating the commitment to sporting excellence on a global level.
