We are thrilled to announce the official launch of the RAEX project, an extraordinary opportunity to bring together rowing enthusiasts, coaches, and athletes from across Europe. Funded by the prestigious Erasmus+ program, RAEX is more than just a sports project—it represents a unique experience of collaboration and growth, driven by the values of European unity and shared knowledge.
What is RAEX?
RAEX (Rowing Across Europe Exchange) is designed to foster cross-border connections through rowing. It aims to create a dynamic space where athletes and coaches can share experiences, refine their techniques, and build lasting relationships. This initiative brings the core European values of collaboration, inclusion, and development into the world of sports. By promoting intercultural exchange and mutual learning, RAEX will help shape the future of rowing in a globalized context.
The Support of Erasmus+
Thanks to the Erasmus+ funding, RAEX is made possible. This program not only provides the financial support but also emphasizes the importance of sport as a powerful tool for personal and community development. Through Erasmus+, RAEX participants will benefit from learning opportunities that go beyond the traditional training environment, with experiences that will foster both personal and professional growth.
A Diverse European Partnership
RAEX is built upon a partnership between Italy, Cyprus, and Sweden—three countries that are geographically distant but united by a common passion for rowing.
- Italy: Home to Rowing4fun, a leading association that specializes in bringing rowing to a wide audience. The Italian team brings experience in organizing events, training camps, and international exchanges. Italy’s role is central to coordinating the overall vision of the project, ensuring that all partners work together smoothly and in sync.
- Cyprus: Representing the southern end of the partnership, Limassol Nautical Club plays a vital role in the project. The club, located on the stunning Mediterranean coast, is known for its strong focus on promoting rowing among women. In fact, one of the key strengths of the Cypriot team is the high participation of women in their programs, fostering diversity and inclusion within the RAEX project. Cyprus adds a unique dimension with its warm climate and vibrant rowing culture, enriching the experience for all participants.
- Sweden: From the northern extremes of Europe, the Malmö Roddklubb contributes its expertise in rowing in colder, challenging conditions. As one of Sweden’s most respected rowing clubs, Malmö Roddklubb brings a wealth of knowledge, especially in endurance training and adapting rowing techniques to northern climates. The Swedish team introduces a fresh perspective on technique and resilience, shaped by their experience of rowing in often demanding environmental conditions.
Although these countries are miles apart, RAEX bridges the gap through the shared love of rowing and the universal language of sport. Participants from each partner will learn from one another, enhancing both their rowing skills and cultural understanding.
Looking Ahead
This is just the beginning! Over the next few months, we will be hosting a variety of events, from training camps to eLearning sessions, where participants will exchange best practices, develop new techniques, and build lasting friendships. Stay tuned to our blog for regular updates on RAEX’s progress and stories from the field.
Together, we are taking rowing beyond borders—one stroke at a time!
